As part of its ongoing effort to strengthen national capacity in Rules of Origin (RoO), the WCO, under the EU-funded RoO Africa Programme, successfully delivered a Training of Trainers workshop for the Ethiopia Customs Commission (ECC) from 18–22 November 2024 in Addis Ababa. This initiative supports Ethiopia’s readiness to effectively implement the AfCFTA and other preferential trade agreements.

Building on earlier technical assistance provided since 2022, the workshop empowered a new cohort of ECC officials to serve as national trainers. The training not only deepened their technical understanding of RoO but also enhanced their instructional delivery skills — enabling Ethiopia to cascade expertise internally and across stakeholder groups.
