Introduction: This media release highlights South Africa’s hosting of the 41st Regional Steering Group and 31st Governing Council of the WCO East and Southern Africa region, where member states reviewed regional progress, advanced strategic priorities for 2025–2028, and reinforced collaboration toward customs modernisation and trade integration. Key outcomes included a focus on digital systems, e-commerce, AEO programmes, and strengthening AfCFTA implementation, culminating in South Africa’s election as Vice-Chair of the WCO ESA Region.
