This report contains a brief overview cross-border road freight flows in the East and Southern Africa (ESA) region. Border data are presented in bi-directional Heavy-Goods-Vehicle flows and show the (1) arrivals per day, (2) queue times, (3) border crossing times, (4) HGV tonnage, (5) delays, and (6) cost of delays. The information is split by main corridors in the region.

Transporters, traders, and cargo owners are encouraged to use the non-tariff barrier (NTBs) online tool developed by UNCTAD and the AfCFTA Secretariat. For a more regional approach transporters are encouraged to contact FESARTA and join their TRANSIST Bureau, which has achieved great success in facilitating regional trade.
